FMD has rapidly expanded its array of best-in-class marine technologies, OEM parts, and turnkey services for marine defense customers through expansion and the acquisitions of companies such as Ward Leonard, Hunt Valve, Maxim Watermakers, Federal Equipment Company, Research Tool & Die, Welin Lambie, and American Fan.
Although FMD has been a historically known for its manufacturing in Beloit. The defense contractor continues to innovate by also providing maritime technologies including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Digital Defenses, SMART Engineering solutions, FM Onboard, and Uncrewed Mission Management through Fairbanks Morse Technology (FMT). In 2023, FMD also started a technology accelerator program (FM Defense Accelerator Program), for startups and small businesses to develop their products and bring them to market. Participants in the program have access to FMD technical experts, a technology team, service network resources, decisionmakers, investors, and marketing channels.
